guess he's right x.x

i wish if a show is still highly wanted, they would re-encode and do a 720p/1080p version x.x

Had the same problem.  Tried subtitle track 4.  Says it's Japanese, but it's English, as well as being the only track that shows anything at all.

I think you guys have to put the Sub at Japanese To see some. When I watched Higurashi the sub Showed only when i put the Japanese Subs.....and they were english subs. btw it was E-D

probably, E-D is total shit when it comes to sub/audio naming conventions. No preset will give you the correct one by default. Why they include tracks like only subs for op/ed and not naming or at least tagging it different is beyond me.

E-D's sub tracks are named for the audio tracks they're meant to be used with.  The "English" tracks just translate signs and the OP/ED.

^^ What he said.

For those having issues with the subtitles on this or any other E-D release, set "Audio and Subtitle Preferences" in Haali Media Splitter to jpn, jpn;jpn, eng. This will make the player default to Japanese audio and "Japanese" subtitles first on E-D releases or others that use the same scheme, and the first English subtitle track on any other encode if it doesn't find "Japanese."  You can also set "Match Subtitle track name to audio" to "Yes" to catch some older E-D encodes that tagged the subs as "English (for Japanese audio)" and "English (for English audio)".
