Is the promo or special "Scorponok's Scars"?
It should be episode 33 in the Japanese release making it a 52 episode series,
but I see only 51 episodes so I was wondering about that.

Promo is just small story prologue and character introduction with toy ads.
I looked up episode you mentioned on Wikipedia. Episode 33 is in here as episode 33.
The American dub skipped this episode, but counted special as episode 44 so the the number of episodes was 51.

This anime is one of the first with 3D graphics, along with combination of 3D and CGI. Of course it have some animation issues, but it was one of 3D pioneers in anime.
The plot of Superlink, which is sequel to Armada, is very exciting: many adventures, intrigues, humour and well-developed characters in both Autobot and Decepticon sides. Most of the plot occurs on Cybertron and in the space. Also it contains 'easter eggs' from original Transformers cartoon and first Japanese trilogy (HMV).
I treat this anime as the best of Transformers series, and highly recommend the newbie Transfans to watch it.

The sheer amount of inaccuracies in this post I can only respond to with a stare of disbelief.

Um... even thought I like the plot and design of characters.... I dislike its plot speed and graphics. And about pioneer of 3D animations, it's Beast Wars!
If Superlink had faster plot I'd like it as how I like Armada. Well, I accept "Easter eggs"; I really appreciate them!
