eh... too pretentious for my tastes.  and i mean come on ... '13 hours' ...?  why is it EXACTLY 13 hours?  'memento' managed to pull the memory-loss thing off a lot better imo.  the whole show just seems to be written by a sad emo teen girl that probably cuts herself because she's fat.  right down to the GODAWFUL annoying engrish evanescense-esque band that plays in the opening.  when i wasn't rolling my eyes, i was laughing -- and i'm pretty sure it's not a comedy.  as a completist, i put myself through the whole series, but i shall not be watching season 2.  i can see where the praise is coming from -- the production values are great -- but it's just too contrived and petty of a story for me.  i can't force myself to be pretentious enough to enjoy it.  chalk it up to experience i guess -- i've just seen too much cliche rubbish like this.  "ooohh... look... it's another show about 16-year olds and their VERY IMPORTANT problems and interpersonal relationships... but ooooh look!  there's a gimmick in the form of memory loss to keep you interested!"

it reminded me of "Kanon" for no particular reason (but not clannad, which was shit in a completely different way).  most likely the whole 'empathy' thing.  and that's just annoying.  except Kanon was actually decent -- you know, because it had NEW IDEAS at the time -- this one just tries WAAAY too hard to jump on bandwagons.  there's just nothing really original about it.  fucking 'sad eye-patch girl'... AGAIN.

ARGH!

or perhaps i'm just being overly cynical, because it's getting too much praise from too many people who sang the same kind of praise for cowboy bebop and death note, except now they've graduated to "drama" because they "grew up"  -- IT'S MY FAVORITEST BESTEST ANIME OF ALL TIMESES!  ...  ugh.

To each his own, no?

I feel there could have been more story into it, but overall I highly enjoyed this one, and Will probably have to rewatch it again sometime soon.

it's alright.  it's nothing 'new' or 'mindblowing' or even 'mildly interesting' though (all of which it tries to pass itself off as).  the production values are great.  that's about it.  it feeds into EVERY. SINGLE. STEREOTYPE.  argh.

I'm not sure why you're so scathing in regards to this. Perhaps you began with a negative mindset and it grew as you sought out more things to add onto it (disconnecting any emotions for any character). As for the stereotypes, I have to agree that it fills some of them. It played out as it did due to the intended genres of tragedy and romance with a side of memory loss. However, the situation details for Chihiro (her personality excluding her voice) was absolutely better than average. The 13 hours memory is not a problem if you can appreciate a little fantasy in tragedy for dramatic and romanticized effect. Also, the meaningful and complex dialogue between the characters at certain moments is a major redeeming quality.

I definitely wouldn't say it's "nothing mildly interesting" but I wouldn't go out of my way to say it's amazing. Slightly above average perhaps...
At least half of it was, as the other story line was incredibly shallow.
(PS: Clannad is not overrated if you connect to the main character.)
Cheers to nice production values and sky scenes.

I much prefered Melodies, but I enjoyed both quite a bit.  Stereotypes or not. When I watch though I don't look for anything particular, I look for enjoyment, and I enjoyed it, although sometimes is was kinda slow.

It did blow my mind. I didn't think it was all that stereo-type and even if it was, it was very neatly done. The artwork was amazing and the soundtrack was perfect. Some of the scene's really had me at the edge of my seat while others made me cry. I think this anime really manages to convey the emotions and that is what makes it such a good series for me. If this anime is average I must have watched a whole lot of crap.

I can't seem to get the ordered chapters to work no matter what I do.  :-( I already installed CCCP and even made sure Matroska was unticked.

Whoops. Apparently the ordered chapters are only supposed to start at the end of the second episode.

Eh, this was a great anime. I give it a solid 9/10   Had alot of trouble using MPC though, doesn't seem to like my computer for some reason. It will play the video, but there will be no sound. As for VLC, it does insert the op/ed correctly, but there was one particular episode(I forget which one, it was a long time since I've watched it) in which it randomly inserted halfway through the episode, causing it to restart. And before you ask, yes, I use CCCP, but it still didn't fix the problems I've had with MPC in the past. Can anyone suggest some ideas as to what exactly might be happening? Thanks  :-)

May I please ask why when I downloaded this it wouldn't allow me to move it to my hard drive; I had completely downloaded it and it was seeding so I stopped it and went to move it over to my hard drive but it kept saying it wouldn't move over. Is it possible it wouldn't move over due to it saying 4.45 but when I downloaded it it said 4.44gbs? Or does that have nothing at all to do with it?

Try reseeding it again and see if it says you have all the files, not that I think it would be a problem..
