This was one of the treasures screened on the UK Sci-fi channel many years ago, and which helped turn me into an anime fan. Many thanks for finding this one for us. I recommend a download of this - It's entertaining, and looks pretty good for an anime made eighteen years ago.
Edit: Just realized why it looks so good - the director (Hiroyuki Kitakubo) would still have been riding the success of 'Akira' back then, meaning he would have probably had very good funding for this.

Same with me. This one's a classic. And yes the animation is fantastic.

Just curious as to why this is labeled as an OVA?
its only one file and im pretty sure its a movie?
If im wrong somehow feel free to correct me.
PS, i found this little gem at a used book/media store and got it, its pretty good considering I dont like alot of the older anime.

That's because it's called an OVA: http://anidb.net/a812 and http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=329

NM, direct to video is the difference between OAV and movie, I forgot.

I've only cried for two other works, Gurren Lagann and the end of MGS4. I can now proudly say that I have this in my collection again, thank you so much.

Truly a classic movie, from the good ol' days of the Sci-Fi channel.

The level of quality truly appears to be that of the creator of Akira. It has a great story, interesting characters, and a great ending.

This was clearly made by the same guy who did Akira, even the stories are slightly similar, although this one is far more lighthearted. I love his animation style because he gives all his characters distinct faces and personalities, something which I think is often lacking in anime. I would highly recommend this one, the story may sound kinda weird, but there's a lot of charm and it's a very entertaining watch.

I love that Akira style with writhing cables and the assimilation. I knew it was coming, but the ending was hilariously great! thanks for the upload
