The crazy thing about it is... that this movie is still 10X better than the new one.

Didn't even watch the new movie.  Goku as a shy teenager, and reluctant to fight?   :-/  yeah...right.

Dragon Ball can be made in to a real live action.
But to do it right it's going to need a budget that is = or > than all the Marvel movies. that have come out.
i mean really evo was slated at 276mill to make it and after all the cut backs it got less then 82mil total
it sucked because it was planed at 256 and built on 80 ish.
try doing that with a building and see if it can stand up.

yes i have seen evo. first 20mins at the movies before i walked out.
evo's only saving grace is bulma is a bad ass.
i really think she is the only one that has ever seen a eps of dragon ball.... :-/
1 to 10 it gets a 3
this movie get a 6 if that gives anyone a hint at how bad evo is

i like how grenades in this movie make white smoke explosions, and as the smoke clears out, you see the actual prop flying through

Ah I miss the good old days. Watched this when I was in High School. After several decades aside from those made by Japan and Hongkong, Rurouni Kenshin Live Action is the next that was somewhat near perfect. If they only had more BUDGET for props that would have made the cake.

Side note: Avatar the Last Air Bender was another turd of a movie following DBZ Evo.

Seriously this is how a live action is properly done. Everytime 'hollywood' tries to make a live action of an anime. Its a freaking FAIL . . . EVER and it will never change. Unless, probably if they would do something like:

- get a decent director from either Japan/Korea/Hongkong/Taiwan
- get the top stunt team from Hongkong/Korea/Japan <- in this order (for the fight scenes)
- get actors from ASIA for the main characters (exceptions are those with non black hairs & Mr. Satan)
- hire some of the production team that worked in the movie: Crouching Tiger / Kung Fu Hustle / The Matrix / Gantz: Perfect Answer / Zu Warriors / 20th Century Boys / The Warriors Way / IP Man / Undisputed (**my shortlist)

Mash these up and give a budget of 50-100million and caching an AWESOME Live Action that would last decades.

FYI: Most of the ASIAN movies that kick-ass have a budget of less than $20 million, what if they get decent budget and team WOAH  ;-) meme

I'm not a fan of most Marvel movies as they seem to be aimed at kids and people with poor taste(Avengers? a lame 8 year olds dream and Gwyneth Paltrow/Robert Downey Jr. must be cast for name:salary ratio) but I'd love to know why you feel a decent Dragonball movie would cost so much. I can't see any effects in DB costing nearly as much to animate as Ironman's suit flipping and folding and what not. All the Marvel movies together would be several times what the last Transformers movie cost and being an aspiring CG artist I can tell you there's no way in the world anything in Dragonball would be as time consuming and expensive to animate at an equal(I'd say just shy of photorealistic) level. The Transformers transformations look more than convincing and I just can't see some 'energy attacks' and Piccolo-like characters costing much. I guess you have the capsule vehicles that have to transform and if you throw in an Oozaru that could add up but King Kong(2005) did giant apes to perfection. I guess this is an old comment I'm replying to but I think you're either gravely mistaken or were just exaggerating/talking non-sense. It would realistically take around 250M as they planned and with minimal pocket-lining/waste to make a Dragonball movie that was true to the show and looked completely realistic IMO. That's a fairly expensive movie though and without the popularity(in the US) of series like Harry Potter and Iron Man it's not gonna happen anytime soon.
