this show is simply amazing. it's been a very long time since i've seen a show this wonderful, i just couldn't stop watching, the emotions really got to me. they balanced the mix between sport and character development really well.

I've heard a lot of great things about this anime. I'm excited to start this one.

I'm not a big fan of sport animes but I did like this, quite a lot actually. Don't let the retro-type art fool you. Even though the animation style looks old it was done very well nonetheless.

series was alright, art is pretty blah (apparently the artist cant draw human ears), it moves along with a decent story pretty well, but then kind of screeches to a halt. still, one of the better sports animes ive watched.

This anime is a gem, a jewel. It melted my soul, and I fell in love. Perhaps the aspect that hit home for me was series' realistic approach to the protagonist's struggles. In some anime (in a lot of anime), when the protagonist is in a pinch, something very -- and incredulously -- convenient happens to ensure all will end favorably for him/her, e.g. a spontaneous, dubious power-up or wacky turn of events. None of that drivel here. When something bad happens, the ball rolls where it should. The losses were painful, and the victories were glorious; regardless, they felt real.
To make this clear, I'm not a baseball fan, and you don't need to be one to enjoy it. I started this series on avid, and unrelenting, recommendations that emphasized its romantic aspect, and it undoubtedly delivered. It was a subtle, but steady, climb that developed beautifully.

Watch this. Regret won't even find its way to your door.

was going through post-Berserk depression after finishing up the incomplete manga, but Cross Game brought me out of that funk.  Finished the anime in 3 or 4 days and I loved every single ep.  Even the filler episode.  Loved the characters, loved the story, loved the relationships.  Just epic.  The only downside to all of this is now I have post-Cross Game depression.

How do I get out of this funk?

What's with the artstyle?

DID SOMEONE LET TAKAHASHI MAKE ANIME UGLY AGAIN???? Or is there a copycat out there?

Dude, if you don't know who Adachi Mitsuru is, then you are either ignorant to manga or anime or have been living under a rock. He is one of the most revered manga-ka in the industry.

Rock, then.

And who cares about mangaka??? The best stuff is mostly not manga-based...

After crawling out from under the rock, I still say that 70s character designs and 720p are a strange mix indeed (what's next, Claymation over HD backgrounds?).  And I still think that good anime and good manga are all too often mutually exclusive.

Also, art is a lot more important in HD Anime. It's a lot more like porn or Hmanga in that regard, whereas in manga it's often utterly unimportant.

Why is that? HD resolution is a bigger picture size, nothing more. Many people have that misconception about HD meaning something else than larger pictures.

I don´t see the importance of great art in Anime. What´s important is that they follow the real story from the Anime/Novel instead of making up their own.

I take a great story with 70´s, 80´s art style over 2011/12 art style with a poor story any day.
