The subs are fine, but perhaps your media player is not. I suggest Media Player Classic, by CCCP if you're not using it, or re-installing it if you are.
Other than that, there's always making sure the subtitle tracks/channels are enabled.

dw about my last comment, i found out i had a really old version of media player classic and it couldn't actually find the subs for any vids.
i downloaded the latest one though and it worked perfectly
