Let's jumpstart the discussion about which release to pick with an actual offer... ;-)
(see this forum thread for some initial comparisons and other info)

I'm sure additional comparisons will be required; just let me know if there's a preference with regard to episodes/scenes.

Note: I also have the complete Ripping Gods release.

Just curious, since you've mentioned your list several times before: how many items are on it exactly?
(though perhaps more enlightening, how many of those are active projects?)  ;-)

At this moment it's either Ripping Gods or AJAS.

Since some months ago when I say the story I've been craving to see this. Thx for the offer. Let's see if it is accepted.

from the comparison shots in the forum thread it seems like the RG release has noticeable less artifacts. is that true for the episodes other than the first too?

I'll go and make some more comparisons, to be continued... ;-)

Do not call me TP :shutup2:

And yes I also see that the RG encode is MUCH better when it comes to artifacts

Hmmm, well, I went for AJAS because it seemed that release/torrent was the most circulated/preferred one and due to the resolution.
Below some comparisons to help clear the matter up; I took 3 screens each from eps 2, 3, 4 and the OVA.

Yeah, call him Profi, I do. Just like he calls me Macross, what's in a name...  :-P

while the artifacts seem to subside a bit in ep 3+4 of the AJAS release, there is still no noticeable detail gain through the higher resolution. thus i would vote for swapping the torrent for the RG files. even with the video quality equal they have the advantage of the signs track and a set of vobsubs for whoever might need them.

Swap requested, added the AJAS extra's to the RG release.

On the audio: Some or all of these files have the lol-worthy English commentary tracks, don't they? I say lol-worthy because it's alcohol-aided voice actor commentary by VAs who weren't even in the dub.

True, part 4 has a Voice Actor Commentary track. And yes, they do sound drunk... :-D

Amusing to see the AJAS extras still survivng.... considering I know the pair who bought the dvds and did the ripping, mostly for the local anime club to screen.  Can't remember when the pres decided to torrent it, or when he decided to stop, but hey....
