It is indeed. MKV is a nested format, just like the Russian doll.

The funny thing is, the Russian doll is inspired on a similar Japanese one, but now the Japanese call it with a Russian word.

Now, that's one hypothesis which has no proof. Don't just blindly trust Wikipedia articles, pal, unless you write them yourself.

Think I'm gonna throw some question marks into that particular one, otherwise people are gonna start thinking Russia's a rebel colony of Japan or whatever.

ive heard something like this before. I dont think the japanese dolls are as popular or well known as the russian ones in japan.

The question about the doll was asked in "Chto, Gde, Kogda" long before Wikipedia was created :)
