the CD is the finished product, as is the artbook.lossless means that you can recreate the original product from the files you got without any loss in quality.
even if you had the right paper and press you could not possibly recreate the artbook with the same quality as the original print from scanned images - thus the scanning process is lossy.
you can easily recreate the original cd in perfect quality from the flac files, thus the process of EAC is lossless.
that something is lossless does not mean that one needs to be able to trace everything back to the very first source (i doubt anyone would suggest recreating the orchestra - musicians, instruments, etc - from a the music on a cd) - only that the source you created the copy from (cd, or artbook in this case) can be recreated without quality loss.
What you say what a "loss" is, is not a loss because of something like lossy format->lossless format, but analogue->digital conversion which ALL things, that aren't created solely digitally, go through.
So, "lossless" is a tag only for stuff which are sold digitally, because in that case the "producer" gave us the loss and not some private scanner? Well, if only I think this is kinda stupid, then ok. It should be clear that you can never recreate analogue stuff from digital stuff. Lossless should imo be used for describing a lossless version from the "first" digitalized version, as any other thing is impossible on the first hand.
It's not like you could make your own vinyl records with bakabts "lossless" music either.
p.s.: JAN is similar to EAN, it's the barcode. Nothing to do with isbn.

"Lossless" has nothing to do with finished products, replication, method of obtaining data or anything of the sort. "Lossless" is a term used to describe compression algorithms for data without any loss (hence the term) of that data, look it up on Wikipedia if you dont believe me. ZIP and RAR are very good examples of this, as ultimately any data file compressed with ZIP or RAR compression would be ultimately useless if data was lost in the compression. FLAC is a lossless audio format because even though it is compressed (slightly) there is no cutting of the waveforms in order to save space or any other loss of original data in any way. Unlike Mp3s which cut out tones the human ears cannot hear in order to shrink file size. Png and GIF ARE lossless formats as opposed to Jpeg and others. Now, whether or not the admins want to allow that tag for images (which in reality doesnt even matter much as theres not much if any difference between lossless and lossy image formats anyway), is another matter all together.

It was very odd, while downloading I checked the folder just to get a preview (download was like 50% done), and one of the pictures showed up as a scan of a Scyther pokemon card. It went to the actual picture when the download finished. Huh... Cool art.
