Also, in this case, the BD transfer quality is excellent, with lots of detail in grain, especially in Miyazaki/Takahata episodes.I would like someone to either agree with what I'm going to say here or otherwise tell me what I'm missing.
From the screenshots I can see that these aren't ''bad quality'' and there are some fine details (like the grain) that are small enough to almost need the higher resolution. However, it also seems to me as though the original production wasn't meant to be seen in such detail since the lines aren't sharp anymore. When I look closely at the 480p screenshots the lines are much sharper, but its more difficult to make out the much finer details that you see in the 1080 ones. What I'm trying to say is that 1080p would be fine if you have a monitor that displays that resolution and you are sitting further away so that the display looks as small as it would when you sit where you would normally sit with a 480 display. The 1080p videos don't look as if they were stretched and now has some missing info, just that the details that there are, are not meant to be seen so close up. The only advantage to the higher resolution then is that you can watch it on a larger TV (alot of anime is like that IMO). I'm sure there are people agreeing and I am stating the obvious here but I've never really spoken to anyone about this so I would like to know if others agree.

When I first saw the Scooby Doo Season 1 [1969] on 480 dvd on my high end TV. I was amazed at how much detail you could see. So much dust and grain that was not cleaned. You can almost see a drop shadow on the background from the thickness of thee cell. You can also spot when they are using a lot of layers. I remember reading a review on Amazon and someone was complaing about the straight forward and un-restored quality of the release. But it is what was broadcast in the 70's. Animators at Hanna Barbara were creating these images to be see on fuzzy low res crts.
Point being I always wondered how good they could make these classic 70's cartoons look if they were released on Bluray. I never expected to find Lupin's first season released at 1080. I have the copies of Lupin Broadcasts so I cann't wait to see the difference.
I have heard people say that a clean 480 is as good as it needs to be for older animated tv shows? We'll see. Thanks for bringing it up Anontor88

Would love to have this with English audio. Anyone know where I can find that (In HD of course)?

English dub of this series does not exist.

FUNimation should dub it!Plus, Discotek Media has mercifully licensed it, preventing FUNi from screwing it up with a dub. Aside from the CoC dub, I honestly don't think the Lupin franchise should ever be dubbed. I love dubs, and generally prefer to watch my anime dubbed, but this series' Japanese VA's are legendary and simply cannot be matched by anybody else.

Thank you neo1024. I had some questions.
I watched episode 1 and 2, and found that sound was sometimes not synchronized with video. It's the same thing with VLC and Windows mediaplayer.
I think video is Variable Frame Rate but mediaInfo told me it's CFR.
If video is a VFR, did you take that in consderation ? If so, why is it not synchronized when I play it ?
Thank you for the answer.

What are (at least a few) timestamps for the off-sync places?
The synchronisation is exactly the same as what you would find on BD disks, so we might have an initial production error.

The syncrhonisation is like that on the official series 1 set released by Discotek as well. I believe all releases have the issue because back then I don't think they cared about synching as much in the older days of anime

Off topic, but do you know what these Italian blu-rays are all about? Specifically for the OVA/specials that I don't see on blu-ray for any other region. Upscales maybe?

All of those are out on Blu-Ray in Japan. Assuming they were remastered correctly they should be good quality and not upscales for the ones made before Return of Pycal (2002 i believe). Return of Pycal and up until maybe The Last Job? are digitally animated in Standard Definition and are probably upscales. Some OVA's and Movies are digitally animated in HD, but i highly doubt the Lupin specials were considering they probably weren't very high budget. But with the process done correctly the upscales would look really good at 720p, but probably not 1080p.
