"The premise of the story is the 70% or higher possibility that a magnitude 7.0 earthquake will occur in Tokyo in the next 30 years"
They knew one was coming up, just not that it'd be this close.

May I ask why it's under the D group?

because all the hardsubbed typesetting from frostii is not present in this release. it's really incomplete and only has a bit better quality and some redrawn scenes. if you really want to watch a complete release people should go with frostii.

I watched this after hearing about it in a discussion of the Fukushima earthquake.  Terrific anime and walks a fine line between unflinching tragedy and uplifting survival.  Highly recommended.

in short, it's not worth it to download it again?

Watched it about 2 years ago. I considered watching it after the 2011 Touhoku earthquake but haven't yet. Several reasons why I haven't watched it again but it's just a great anime I thought so I'll add it to my list to watch again.

Word of advice - if you intend to watch this, do NOT look up any spoilers or detailed synopsis, as this will change your watching experience. There's a subtle plot twist, and I loved how it was done, i.e., although I had accidentally stumbled on slight spoilers, it still managed to deliver. Definitely worth a watch.

Except Tohoku '11, while 9.0, was NOT in Tokyo, but hundreds of miles away in the ocean trench. This anime depicts what it would be like if a 8.0+ hit IN Tokyo, not far away.

Yet, I don't think a 8.0 right under Tokyo would cause THAT much destruction. It should be at least a 9.0 to do what the anime depicts.

That depends on the extent of the touted earthquake proofing of Tokyo buildings and infrastructure being true to its declared specifications. IMHO, the destruction shown in the series is more like TM 7.5, not TM 8.0.

since when is it more "complete" to have ruined source videos at tv quality?

frostii release being given a B whilst this is a D is a joke, especially the 480p one apparently being better than this release.

Yes. It's the only English/Japanese dual audio release at the moment.
