Since this wasn't picked up...  ;-)

Anyway, I can't remember if a favorite translation/subtitle source was chosen.
This one seems to be pretty good, though (small) corrections could be made on the editing side of things.

Is it any good?
For some reason live action adaptations of animes are always a bit disappointing.

It's ok. It's the first few story arcs mashed together. It's a bit superficial and doesn't go into each character's personality much.
The fight scenes are pretty good. If you're a Rorouni Kenshin fan, it's fun to watch but you'll also get irritated by how much has been left out.

I would have to agree with you.

Rurouni Kenshin is one my favourite animes. I enjoyed the movie, but it was frustrating how much they changed the characters and the story line. Not my favourite movie, but it was worth the watch.

Seconded. My main issue with this movie is the lack of character development, particularly Kenshin. The actor didn't quite get his happy-go-lucky sillyness of the original, a little overacting. Characters don't seem as believable. Not a GOOD movie, but enjoyable for fans.

now just finished watching, and i have to agree fully withwho8mahrice, imho kenshin was a way to serious type compared to what i was expecting and this "oro" was rubbish. aswell if i remember correctly kaouru scolded him quite often wich didnt happend in this movie.

entertainment value of the movie for a person who doesnt have prior knowledge about this is probably very good, especially the fighting parts.
however for the fans of kenshin this is probably quite disappointing =/  nonetheless good'ish movie
