if you were to see the amount of anime i watch your eyes might very well bleed. yet still there are animes that surprise me. yes this one shared MANY plot ideas that just seem to cycle anime, yes the anime ending was predictable, but really if we judged anime just on that half of what we watch would disappear. so if you're looking for a decent watch i highly suggest this one.

This is one of the best anime I've ever seen personally.  I don't care if some of it is predictable.  It's the execution that I think is great, and the characters that drew me in.  If you knew anything about Hamlet and The Tempest and so many of the parallels between the stories, even really subtle parallels, I think some people would appreciate it a little more.  I'm surprised at the reception it has received, but, it is what it is I suppose.  One of the best I've seen from Bones as of late as well.

Can't suggest this one enough, I'd never heard of it until it was posted here and now it's in my top list... damned good show. The only thing that irritates me is that it ends. It isn't a bad ending, by any means... but it's the type of show you don't want to let go.

Apparently they're coming out with a spinoff manga (the Anime ended at the same time as the Manga)

Wow... after reading the chapters out of the Manga, I have to say.... this anime is like others, it pales in comparison. It makes Yoshino seem like a wuss (Currently on Episode 8) which is totally different than the Manga's version of him.

Edit: hmm, I hope the manga isn't like this anime.... it's no where near VJK's level of awesome.

Well, I have to say; I haven't seen any recent anime this good in quite some time.

I don't post very often, but felt it was worth it in this case.

First off, thanks to the above posters who commented on the show, it likely wouldn't have caught my attention otherwise.

I've been watching anime pretty regularly (ie too often) for the last 15 or so years, and like many other people, have seen many of the different plot twists/variations/loopholes, you name it.  This show isn't amazing because of how original it is, (and lets face it, originality is overrated), its amazing because of its execution and the overall viewing experience.  The animation, background music, and voice-acting is solid all around (and at times really pretty amazing imo, see episode 20-21)  And unlike many of the shows nowadays, they actually make a GOOD effort at constructing a more-than-simple plot which I for one appreciate.  So if you are looking for an anime that's worth your time to watch all the way through, give this one a try.

I felt the same way about this anime.  It actually made an attempt to keep you guessing and thinking until the end.
I can say at least that the ending is NOT suck and rushed.  Predictable perhaps, but the execution was

Wow, I have to say "me three", on how awesome the plot is well hidden from us. I've been watching anime(knowingly) for 8 years now and have watched well over 500 different ones and at this point it's hard to see the plot or twist coming just from the first two episodes. I like how this show kept me guessing and even blatantly explains how the plot I thought was going to happen was exactly what the characters thought was going to happen but doesn't happen that way. Hard to explain in text...

I feel bad for the people that say the ending was very predictable only because it leads to a conclusion instead of giving a Shyamalan twist, I mean if you really think about it most of the anime we know and love is based on this repetitive cycle only with the obvious change of characters. The title was what drew me in but Aika i think is what made me keep watching I highly recommended.

if you view anime like that then yes your going to get the feeling that its recycled most ppl compare anime to other anime but if you did that with all of them of course your going to find some common ground but this anime is something you can compare with other it may have magic and fighting and romance but i dont see anything in this anime that is the same as any other fighting  or magic anime has so far this series stand on its own ground to top it off it has great choice of music the romance tragic but at the same time beautiful in its own way.

This really surprised me, although a lot of the parts are cliche'd slightly, (and if you've already read "The Tempest" some of the plot is easier to predict) it really works, the pacing is also really great, there's enough action spaced in between the character development so that it never really gets boring, and Yoshino is one of my favorite MC's of all time, also Sawashiro Miyuki is one of my favorite VA's of all time and fits Hakaze's character perfectly
