Excellent series, any1 know if there will be a second season or was that all though? A bit disappointed if it ended already, as it was a pleasure to follow, and the series only covered a span of 1 month or so.
There aren't many series that are about an endurance sports as opposed to technical sports (like team sports or boxing), gives room for quite a different execution.

There's rumor that there will be a second season but it's not confirmed yet.

I think what Jarudin is trying to say is that if your going to do something you might as well do it right.
I mean I write novels mostly for my friends and family but just because I dont get paid for it and no one important is ever going to see it doesnt mean I'll just not bother to spell check or properly format it.
Its called taking pride in your work.
I mean after all when you've already spent hours doing translating, grammar, timing, etc you might as well spend 20-30 minutes more running it through a spell checker and downloading a nice looking font.

I think I'll go buy me a bike (around 300-500 euro).
This show was a real inspiration.
There HAS to be a second season. Why ? We have yet to see the girl with the glasses humping a bike (featured in the OP).

Overal a great anime,
I'm only dissapointed about some small things during the series:
- A amateur route would never be 180 km and have 3 hillclimbs
- Even if there is, Shinozaki couldn't ever make it past the 2th one without much training (and 3 months isn't enough).
- After stopping it will be very hard to start riding again and you'll lose a lot of stamina.
- Falling will be the end for you
- Where's the water during the route?
Like i said the concept of the anime is good but they could better be looking some things up before making a anime.
Somethimes it really annoyed me.

@paultjuh: While the constant glorification(mostly of the japanese themselves, they actually really suck sewer rinse at 90% of all popular western sports) and unrealistic abilities of
the characters sometimes annoy me as well. But it is a huge part of anime, so I would not
expect a show to be realistic before watching it.
So, point is, the mangaka probably realized everything you listed, but did not care.

A surprisingly refreshing and palatable anime, I was glad I watched it.

It was great, and I too started biking again.
Also, 180 km (112 miles) isn't that much. When I was 12 I could do a 55 mile course in a reasonable time.
And it was a great change from other sports anime where say, the main character's in last place and suddenly exploads and wins from behind.

Whoa, most people found this really good and inspiring.
well, its "OK" in terms of story...(bordering on "meh"). As for inspiring, really? Maybe since ive already watched Slam Dunk and Hajimme no Ippo, my standards for "inspiration" has gone quite high
(cuz i didnt get inspired to ride a bike again
).
Thats just me anyway
. The anime was entertaining at some points (which is sure to entertain the rest of you!). So fear not and proceed to download this.

January 23rd 2008 (5 years and 3 months and 26 days)2. Ehm... subbing equals: translation, spelling, grammar, timing, styling, typesetting, encoding etc.
If u find some of them less important, well that's up to u but they are all part of it.
3. StillCrazy, we heard it before, quit spitting out retarded comments, please! H264/mkv and softsubs is the future, just because u can't adapt to it because your brain capacity is rather weak, doesn't mean people should use inferior codecs etc.
4. "And quit with the "if you don't like it, do it yourself" defense." <-- It's REALLY old.
