Looks good, but take 'error free' out of the description. It suggests that other torrents do contain errors, which in this case is true but is not true in general.

Very good series. I liked it alot. I don't have pictures of it and .. - searchs his database- I gave it a 5/5 and it is one of my recommended/favorites. Link to wikipedia --> Stellvia of the Universe <-- if you want to know more about the anime. I recommend it. I made a banner out of it too, final version is missing and it was one of my best works. --> Ryoko

emo-tard fest != deep

Uchuu no Stellvia is pretty good. Infinite Ryvius was annoying for the most part.
But if you like it when the main characters  constantly show/experience a lot of
panic/fear/depression/despair, sure, go ahead and enjoy Infinite Ryvius.

And Uchuu no Stellvia is pretty childish in spite of everything, so if you think Ryvius is just about angst you really miss the point.

V-A use DVD source with DVD subs. Nothing special about them.
I have not watched Rice Box release I think. Looks like a fansub.

There is at least one thing Uchuu no Stellvia and Ryvius have in common, neither of the series finnished.

So wanted S2 of this show but they canceled those plans as the first session didn't go as well as they hopped :/ thought loved this one.

That makes me wonder if they're secretly hiding the script in their annals (records)  from now to Ragnarock, or there is an obtainable manga or novel somewhere for them both.

On another note,   RB isn't widescreen, but has decent subbing.  So I'd like to know if Va is widescreen/and how good is the dvd-ripped subbing in comparison to RB's, or I could always download the first two episodes of each and find out myself.
By the way, I really love it how they give an intro into what the male protagonist in this series is, but never explain what the  hell that means, and kind of a narrow definition.  Ok, I understand what a programmer is, but what is he,
other than what they say he is?

I certainly don't want to disparage fansubbing groups, but in the interests of saving bandwidth, what are the pros/cons of the r-b and a4e releases?

Excellent anime, btw. The soundtrack is quite impressive as well.

My personal rule of thumb:
Ripped = Localized sub & dub, sub styling is almost always non-existant and can be quite annoyning to watch especially if you don't change the font. Video quality is better than fansubs that use TV source. Get it if you want dubs.
Fansubbed = If it's DVD version, the video quality doesn't normally loose to ripped. Subs are usually closer to the original. Sub styling (font, coloring (and karaoke in more recent anime)) is almost always well done. Get it if you want to watch it with subs.

So in the end:
a4e:
+dubs
+video quality
+/-localized (some people like localized anime, some don't)
-subs

RB:
+subs
+/-not localized
-video quality (as it's TV version)

The show itself is fullscreen, so any DVDrip that's in widescreen would be a mistake. Widescreen does not automatically mean better

Thanks for this re-upload, I will definitely re-download to fix the corruptions in the files I had before. Did you have these files sitting around, or is there some good non-torrent source out there for older fansubs?

Regarding the fansub vs. R1 rip issue: These are tv-fansubs from 2003, so the video quality isn't as good compared to DVD-rips or current HD fansubs. I found them to be acceptable quality. I can't speak for the quality of V-A or a4e's release, but having seen the R1 DVDs, I can say that:

The subtitles and the English dub are not extensively localized. Many honorifics and other Japanese terms are left in both versions, and the dub is quite close to the subtitle script most of the time. And it's a myth to think that fansubs are "closer to the original" when the R1 companies have access to the Japanese recording scripts and the audio, while fansubs just have the audio to go from. Plus, the pros can consult with the producers for "how should this term be spelled?" and similar questions.

Still, I found the DVD subs a bit...lacking. They were over-literal, clunky, and had some mistakes that even I could catch. Even people on the animeondvd forums had issues with the R1 subs for Stellvia, and we all know they don't hold fansubs in high regard over there. So if you don't mind the lower-quality video and don't care about the English audio (which imho was decent, and actually cared about pronouncing names right), I can recommend the r-b release. Sure, r-b made a few mistakes, but these are still solid fansubs.

Nah, I dl'd the corrupt version a couple of years ago and couldn't find an error free version back then. More or less stumbled across the OK version a couple of days ago at some torrent search site. :-D

Great series but I liked it better when it was called Ender's Game.
