Quality aside, how's the subbing on this compared to other releases?I'm VERY picky about my subbing....
The Subs are really good. Menclave = A++
And besides their karaoke is second to none. If you don't beleive me just watch a few of thier releases you will not be disappointed!!

Thora is doing the BDHD (720p and 1080p) using Menclave's subs. They've already got out 4 episodes. So a bit of patience and we will have a good version. If you really want to watch the show, grab this. Otherwise wait for Thora.

Don't see why everyone is complaining about the Quality, it looks just like every other SD anime I have seen, I guess people are so use to HD anime releases now they forget that SD is just that.Quality is good for SD, and of course the quality of the subtitles is the key for me.
Menclave always releases great quality releases and as usual it shows.
Thanks.
No offense, but you might want to consider getting your eyes checked.

Subbing on this is better than Chihiro's so far. (and tbh, Chihiiro's wasn't terrible either - but I'm not too picky) I haven't finished re-watching yet. Probably going to watch again when THORA finishes up too!

Honestly, you can't compare a SD MPEG2 ts to a high quality h264 source

The quality isn't good... but that doesn't make it unwatchable.
Definitely I've seen better, but people have to work with what they have.
If you don't want to get it because of the quality, then don't.
THORA is releasing BD versions. Get those when they are done.
But overall, it is watchable and the subs are good. Good upload.

Fellow sub-fascist, Menclave is one of the best.I watched the first episode with both Chihiro and Menclave side-by-side.
Honestly...I thought Chihiros was the better subbing.
It was timed better, and easier to read (sentence structure-wise)

Where did he say anything about the SD version looking as good as the HD version? He just said that it's in SD, so people should remember that and not compare it to HD versions when complaining about quality.

Still, it looks like some old TVrip from a bad tuner card.

I've just watched the first couple of episodes... Gee, when it was said the quality was bad, I was kinda scared, but in the end the quality stands honorably well, given it is good (or not so bad) SD. Please, try to remember, not so long ago, we had both (way!) lower definition (don't know exactly, but it was more like 250*325 than our current 1080p in HD!) AND bad quality (i.e., you might have, long ago, come upon the City Hunter OVA 'Death of Ryo Saeba', that like in one of my ealier comments looked like it was filmed by a tripod vidcam on a TV screen when their was a snowstorm outside that disturbed the reception --since in the good old times, bad reception, in analogical, meant bad but viewable pix, instead of our current digital TVs et al., when bad reception means 1) pixels as big as a thumbnail, 2) no more image, 3) no more sound...)
Getting used to HD doesn't mean one has to disregard SD, just as well as eating caviar once shouldn't make one forget he once liked a good old burger!

Then, again, many (and more) thanks for the upload, and many thanks for the approval.

Whoever is complaining about the video quality has watched too many anime in High definition, 1280x720 or so. Video quality may not be the best, but it's far from bad and it's better than Chihiro's (And Chihiro isn't bad either...)

Many thanks to Menclave for doing a good job on this series. Can't blame them for video quality so much, that's the raws. If I wanted surpreme video quality, I'd just have put off watching it until the BD rips came out. I'll watch those when they do anyways though.

i dont know if anyone wants it to be swapped in or if it should be, but AQS-Anime did the Prologue to this series.

I wasn't saying that SD was bad, I have plenty of SD stuff. I started off mentioning the fact that the quality of the source/raws themselves were bad. Sorry that it came across as a SD vs HD thing. The video is good considering that fact that the source itself is that crappy. I was linking the screenshots to show that. The main point I was contesting was that it doesn't look like a good quality even for SD, but it IS the best that there is.

All right, enough about HDvsSD.
About crazy eights's suggestion concerning the prologue, it could be interesting to swap it in ( given it doesn't mean to re-download the rest to keep seeding), even though it's AQS and not Menclave.
If opinions polls are on, I'll vote for yes. (for what it counts... just a user...but even though I'd have to participate more (i.e. make offers) and register as a power user, my bandwidth makes me too poor a seeder for that)
again, thx for the upload. it's definitely a series worth watching.

So, are the HD versions coming soon? Not to nitpick this release, but if the HD versions will be upped here soon, then I'll just wait for that. Because I believe someone will be upping the BD version of ef - a tale of memories soon, so I want them both to have a consistent quality across the board.

Not a bad way to continue the series. I love the parallels and different layers of the story. The dialogue was very nice and I wish I could talk in a somewhat nonsensical exaggerated way with my friends too
I had come in believing that I wanted to watch Kuze's story more but became engrossed with Yuuko's instead. Glad the series went this far and I'm also glad that it ended nicely with no loose ends.
