For anyone who hasn't seen this one yet, this is an absolute must-see!
This one is one of the finest examples of 'serious' Sci-Fi Anime from the 1980's! Plausible situations, logical story line, believable character development, and an ending that actually wraps up the 'loose ends' of the story. Not speaking Japanese,
I cannot comment on the translation, but after over a decade of watching dubbed Anime, I at least haven't found any serious errors.
I still have my 1992 CPM VHS sub as a PERMANENT part of my collection.
Yeah, It's old, but get it and watch it anyway. You'll be glad you did!

p.s. I have seen this anime described as 'shonen-ai'. It isn't.
The sex of the character in question is undetermined, that is, the character has not selected it (yet).

Ooops! I meant a decade of watching subbed anime. Don't like most subs. Must remember not to post until I've had my morning coffee...

I came away with mixed feelings. The ending was nice because it ends, no questions asked. Some of the situations were too unbelievable for me like the virus (which I found really ridiculous) and his doctor skills...Overall I give it a "meh"
