Hoooooboy....Even if my speed stayed a consistent 1MBps, it would still take a while to finish, like 9 hours XD

I doubt there would be so many seeders that it would finish nearly that fast though....

Is this supposed to be a joke? Not only is the lineart of characters blurred almost everywhere and lack of detain in the background apparent, even some of the computer generated scenes have aliasing where there's high contrast lines... and these "spots" along those aliased lines are blurred as well, telling me it clearly an upscale. Why on Earth would they be upscaling CG animation if they could re-render it without any additional manual labour (unless you consider CPU cycles as such)? Seriously this must be a joke. Stuff like anime's title during OP have also aliased & blurred lines. This looks just bad even for 720p. It's like watching some 1080p BR rip of 1988 Akira... except it was at least properly restored for BR release and not just this straightforward upscale, and I gotta give credit to the fact that Akira was pre-DVD (and pre-VCD) era old classic where as this series is definitely not.

I downloaded an watched the first episode and didn't really see much where 1080p was actually used. CG animation was upscaled, characters look fit for DVD but nothing better, title, details on background 90% of time. The exceptions to the upscale rule would be some lens flare effects and detailed stars on some scenes plus only a few panning still images of landscape and clouds. Also in some cases, thin & sharp character line-art, example: at 9 minute mark, the character talking over the video link, face visible on a monitor. Why? Because she was drawn with (typical) thick line-art for the scene used 5 seconds later! The image was just shrunk in size, not even trying to make the line-art thinker after shricking or to remove some of the finer details for the shrunken image to fit in with the style everything else visible during that scene. Not only does it stand out crappy within that scene, it also contradicts every other scene with a character being at a distance. To me, this just looks damn CHEAP.

I will at least get 720p version of ep1 before deciding on which version to get. So far it doesn't look too promising for 1080p.

"Creator: Hatate Yajime"

Actually, it's YATATE Hajime.
And I'm not even sure it's worth mentioning the name -- 99% of all Sunrise in-house productions have that credit, it's a fake name, which is only used to give Sunrise full ownership of all of their productions. For instance, on Gundam, Yatate is actually Tomino. Etc.
Only shows that were not created by Sunrise in the first place (such as City Hunter) have regular credits.

Thanks for this upload!  It's a cute story...a bit of a brain twister now and then...going to require more than one watching.  Certainly not 'slow'.  The image and and subtitles are clear though maybe not as sharp as one might expect if the source was 1080p.

How many anime's are created at 1080p I wonder?

Is this a spoof of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time?

No.

...but apparently the only way to translate "kakeru" is "leapt" and it must specifically be in past tense.

....even though kakeru means like fly here.

"The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" is the official English title on both AniDB and ANN.  Sure, I'm not 100% positive, but I've had no reason to distrust these sites on the matter of official titles before.

Sure, it may not make sense in a direct translation, but considering the fact that there are subtle parody elements in the show makes it easy to swallow that the title was just a play on another anime's official English title, Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo(The Girl Who Leapt Through Time).

People say "it has to be this" because that's what has universally deemed to be official.  That should be good enough.

WOOOHAHAHAHAHAAA!!! Finally I get to put my 3TB ZRAID5 NAS to test! I seem to be able to play 1080p over Gigabit LAN as long as I use Windows Media Player, and there are no karaoke or fancy stuff with the subs.
I don't know what's wrong with Windows 7 that plays 1080p subs so slow. I have two computers with dual Xeon 3.2GHz in them, one with 4GB ram, the other with 6GB, one with the ATI 4850, and the other with nVIdia 7800GT, both seem to have exactly the same performance issues with playing 1080p videos. It's putting Microsoft software to shame!

What HW/SW do oyu guys use to play these smoothly?

Yeah, I don't think the problems are with your operating system.

Watching the over a network will take a max of 10Mbit, so even a normal 100Mbit LAN would do fine.
I use Win7 x64 Professional with a Phenom II x4 with a RadeonHD2600 and 4GB of memory and don't experience any problems.
Media Player Classic - Home Cinema for player, using ffdshow's ffmpeg-mt for video decoding, also streaming over a 1000Mbit network.

Smooth as a baby's ass.
Should look into your software configuration.
