If anyone has magical fingers and can move the japanese text to the left, I'd appreciate it. It looks far too cramped up at the moment.

This has up to chapter 70 which is a suitable break in the story. I'll elaborate in spoilers if wanted.

Ayanami's Manga Scans are basically Viz Media scanlations. The rest seems to be regular scanlations by groups.

Oh, and to the: "why not wait until it's over?".

This manga has been going since 1995 so I thought it was about time it got up on BakaBT. I'm not sure if it's considered high-profile like the animation, but figured I'd give this one a go since that's sometimes all that was needed. Manga-Updates has this as "12 Volumes (Hiatus?)" so that also makes it nice to have it here since it's probably not going to finish for some time.

Very nice, hope this gets approved.

How does it compares to the anime in storyline? Does it follows closely with a little added content here and there or is it a lot deeper in details and background story? I'd also like a short elaboration of at which point of the anime chapter 70 would relate to, just to have an idea how far the manga might be from an assumed ending.

It's rather bad. The manga follow rather closely the anime, except that they've cut down many angels.

It carries up to about the end of episode 23.

This torrent apparently has volumes 1-10. Volume 12 came out in Japan about two months ago. It look like 13 will be the final volume, or if he stretches it out a bit, maybe 14.

The comic is certainly not as well-loved as the series, but I don't think it's bad, either. A lot of stuff from the middle of the series gets skipped over, but other bits are added in. Volume 7 is a highlight, I believe.

I own the hard copies up to volume 11 from Viz Media, and I have to say that I enjoy the story line a lot more, sequences are more fleshed out (like Kaji's back story).

The story actually diverges from the anime in many regards, for example: Ayanami is piloting Unit 01 and rescues Misato and Shinji from the 1st angel allowing them to get to Nerv HQ, Shinji has a back bone and isn't quite as much of a whiny wimp (Like trying to punch his father out after the Unit 3 incident in Volume 6), and Shinji not quite liking Tabris because of his general apathetic (uncaring) view on life (and the way he killed a kitten when they first met) as well as being utterly disgusted with his sexual advances, and lastly there's a scene from EoE where Misato rescues Shinji from under the stairs, in the manga, its his Father that does this.

I also agree with Takeshi's opinion that chapter 70 is a good cut off point (it leaves off right when Ritsuko reveals the true nature of the Dummy Plug system), and that this really does deserve to be up here on box. There have been points where as many as 3 or 4 years have gone by before a new volume has been released here in North America (Between volumes 4 and 5), and volumes 9, 10, and 11 for example were a year apart, and I expect the rest of the volumes to follow the same trend.

Still, it could be ages before it does since the mangaka has an irregular schedule regarding NGE.

I'm guess they're dragging it out until either Rebuild 4.44 gets released or 2015 arrives, whichever comes later. ;)

Unlike good mangas, this one is an adaptation from the anime. And the release frequency is really low, like a chapter a month. So it didn't ended yet, and it's got many less elements than the anime.

Thats not entirely accurate, the manga actually started before the anime for one. Plus I object to the use of "unlike good manga", there are many, many famous manga which are absolutely awful compared to the anime and vice versa and what manga is good and bad is entirely subjective.

At the end of the day, if it was identical there would be little point bothering (like with typical shounen works where the content is almost always identical until they catch up. Theres no point bothering with the anime if you read the manga every week). Sadamoto cuts and compresses some things and adds and expands on others, thats just how it is. Rebuild is no different.

As for why it's taken so long, Sadamoto keeps being dragged onto other projects, Rebuild included. He's a very popular artist, and the series is serialized in a monthly magazine which doesn't help. Be grateful you aren't reading X, that definitely will not be finished

Wouldn't it be better to add sample pages directly?

They are linked directly. Or do you mean as in using the screenshot code?

The manga itself is on Hiatus until the end of Rebuild movies, and has been since June 2009, since Sadamoto-sama is the principle artist of the series, and thus, requires his attention.

My guess is that 4.44 gets released before 2015. It would be nice if the manga and rebuild reach and end together
