.
The anime left me a bit cold (first two arcs I felt were best).  But, the artwork was very luscious.  Am looking very much forward to this!  Hope the quality holds up and it's approved.  Thank you!

I understand that png is a lossless format, but the icon is probably reversed for audio tracks, not scans. Just by example, there are other png format artbooks hosted that are not designated "lossless".

Another keyword you can add is nudity.

The .png file type is considered lossless. However I suppose it really does not apply here since these are scans.

'Lossless' conversion is only possible when the source and the final result are both some form of digital media, which means it's possible for the final result to contain an exact duplicate of all the information contained in the original version.

For example, if the artbook was originally releasedf on a CD or DVD and that was the source for the PNG images in this torrent, then the images in this torrent might be lossless.

But it these images are based on scans from a hard copy release, then they aren't lossless.

(Personally, I think if makes more sense to reserve the 'lossless' label for audio; it's really not that useful for images even when they are taken from a digital source.)

PNG files or not - the scans of the artbook were produced through a lossy process (scanning)
and just as converting music files from mp3 to flac does not make them lossless, neither does scanning pages and saving it as png.

is this an official artbook?

Ok awake now >_>
Would had removed the lossless tag but looks like mods beat me to it.
@ Arc Da Rat: Yes they are different Artbooks. This one has different images and 46 pages.
@ Blubart: I'm sure it is an official release, I just have not found any info on it.

@blubart: With your logic, nothing can be really lossless, as digital would be always "lossy".

Even if you record music, it won't really be lossless. That's the basic definition of digital or better: analogue->digital converting. (You might argue that this doesn't affect stuff that ONLY exists in digital form, like if you use one of those programs with "artificial" instruments, which are completely simulated.. though most stuff is recorded and thus never really "lossless")

In other words, lossless should be applied if the files are lossless after the digitalization-process. (in this case scanning) Otherwise you can remove all the "lossless" tags of the music on bakabt. :|
If it makes sense to add the tag for "pictures" is another question, but it's definitely not less lossless than music.

Uh oh, I think I started a debate on what is really lossless by accident! <_<

the CD is the finished product, as is the artbook.
lossless means that you can recreate the original product from the files you got without any loss in quality.
even if you had the right paper and press you could not possibly recreate the artbook with the same quality as the original print from scanned images - thus the scanning process is lossy.
you can easily recreate the original cd in perfect quality from the flac files, thus the process of EAC is lossless.

that something is lossless does not mean that one needs to be able to trace everything back to the very first source (i doubt anyone would suggest recreating the orchestra - musicians, instruments, etc - from a the music on a cd) - only that the source you created the copy from (cd, or artbook in this case) can be recreated without quality loss.

This seems to be the artbook in question: http://store.shopping.yahoo.co.jp/amiami/bok-3101.html
It's kinda hard to see, but the image displayed says "Visual Fanbook".

The other collection, "Visual Art Collection", appears to be a bonus for those who reserved the PC game.

Lol, nor can I.  :-D However, google translate can offer at least some hints of the content. Then again, you're putting your faith into software that you are assuming is correct. Still...

I guess the most important info are the JAN: 4560100335922, and the release date: 2010/08/27.
