wasn't there like 27 Land Before Time?Wiki says, 1 theatrical release - the first movie - followed by 13 direct-to-video movies, and a 26 episode television series. So really, there are 40 Land Before Times.

I have yet to watch the TV series, but from what I have gathered they are the same/similar story just told differently. So it wouldn't matter what order they were watched in. Hope it was helpful!

The translation's pretty bad at times (e.g., there's a whole conversation around 10:30 in that was pretty seriously misinterpreted). You've also got stuff like "Are you hurt anywhere?" translated as "What happened?"; "I'm here for you" translated as "I'll follow you"; etc. The subs would definitely benefit from additional translation checking and editing.
