Since COR, as often is the case, was the only one to release the 2 specials (English subtitled) I decided to include them.

- The 5 Jewels of Brave Story
45 minutes, general backstory about the movie and the main cast.

It might not be a bad idea to include the .srt subs from COR as an attachment...

AniDB says ACX ripped their version from DVD. However, such info is often completely wrong.

Their site says Blu-ray...  

Doesn't change the fact that it's still 720p. If it was DVD, we would likely reject it for being an upscale

What are the subtitles like in this release? Are they the same terrible dubtitles that Ureshii's release originally had?

As to quality (for a Japanese speaker) I can't judge, but the subs (both tracks) are definitely not straight dubtitles.
The R2 subtitle track (secondary) at first glance "feels/looks" a bit more natural, but that could be me...

In the summary -

" a goddess who has can grant any wish."

Drop the 'has'.

Now about those subs...
The "dubtitle" track of the not-quite-Ureshii release is the same as E-D's Japanese R2 DVD subtitle track.

The THORA subtitle track however differs a lot from E-D's PAL DVD subtitle track (which is also the one the COR release uses).
It seems to me THORA edited the Japanese R2 DVD subtitle track; the resemblance is rather obvious.

I don't know why people call it a dubtitle track.
That is, the dubtitle tracks I've come across previously were almost always literal transcriptions of the English dub.
Probably some kind of gradation, Zalis will know...

Is this a prequel to the original PSP game?

This is based on the book of the same title, where as the three Brave Story video games are all adaptations of the book with a lot of creative changes. So, not a prequel, but more like the original work that the games are also patterned off of.

Why not THORA's blu ray release?

How well did they fit 900 pages into a two hour movie?
